Still an icon after

50 years! Since Mattel was
offering these for the same price as
a Barbie in 1959 - $3.00 - they
have been selling out everywhere.
After several calls and waiting -
I finally got my hands on one
today. I still want 2 more......

I was an avid Barbie Doll Collector
before I started scrapbooking
and gave it up to pursue that
obsession. Since then, I have sold
some but have held on to many
more. It's time to scrapbook
the collection........

Yea, we got lucky. I was happy to get the others I wanted...

As of this morning - Kroger's still had them - Bill was at the Campbell Lane store getting a few more after Amber called this morning. Wish I could have taken a pic of him buying up Barbies. LOL

I love Barbie, I have about 150 in the boxes. Our house here is too small to put them out, so I just have a few out and the rest are packed in the basement in boxes. I have my original malibu Barbie, and I have 2 Cher dolls which I have always totally treasured. I will resist this new doll even though she is only $3, she would just have to be in a box in the basement with the others, sigh.

I know what you mean Deb - mine are piled up in a closet since the scrapbook supplies took over their display shelves. Have you scrapbooked your collection? I'm seriously thinking of doing an 8x8album on the collection. Eventually, mine will all be passed on to the granddaughters.

Deb H - you need this one to add to your collection! I have an extra to pass on - so Happy Birthday!!!!!

I should really scrapbook my dolls. I have thought about doing that for my Longaberger baskets as well, even if it's more for record keeping. Ah, some day...

How cool! I didn't even know they were coming out with this Barbie! I loved Barbie as a little girl, and hoping that my girls will too. I wish I could have gotten my hands on a few of the special edition dolls to start them out! Darn it! 3 bucks is a great deal! :)

p.s. love the idea of doing an 8x8 album. It would be a cool way to enjoy the dolls without having to get them out! :)
